Now more than ever, there’s been an emphasis placed on the self: on caring for yourself, on appreciating yourself, on doing all you can to improve yourself. You only have one life, and you only have one body to live it in. Why wouldn’t you do everything you could to care for that body? The easiest thing that you can do to help nourish your body is to live a healthy lifestyle.
The best thing about a healthy lifestyle is that it’s never too late to start having one! People are much more educated now about the positive effects a healthy lifestyle can have on their long-term health, and in today’s fitness-oriented society there are hundreds of exercise options readily available to the public, regardless of your age. That being said, the younger you start living a healthy lifestyle the better.
It can be hard to hop on the “exercise and eat right” train, especially if you don’t have a support system there to encourage you. You’ve heard that there’s strength in numbers, and when it comes to trying to live a healthy lifestyle this is definitely true! Making the commitment to start eating right and exercising as a whole family helps increase your likelihood of succeeding because it ensures that you’re held accountable, and it’s also a great way to spend time together!
Tomorrow is Family Health & Fitness Day. If you don’t already exercise together, we encourage you to use this day as a starting point. Encouraging your kids to exercise, making it something they associate with fun and family togetherness, will go a long way towards improving their long-term health. So get out there and have some fun! Exercise together. Eat healthy. Make it something to look forward to.
“Fitness needs to be perceived as fun and games or we subconsciously avoid it.”
Always keep this in mind, especially when you’re trying to find creative ways for the whole family to exercise together. Exercise doesn’t have to mean spending two hours in the gym every day, benching 100 pounds, or running 5 miles. Exercise can be as simple as playing volleyball on the beach or taking the kids to ride their bikes at the local park. Figure out what fun fitness means for you as a family, then sit back and enjoy the ride!
Take pictures of what you’re doing together as a family on Family Health & Fitness day and share them on our Facebook page! The point is to help inspire others to make the commitment as a family to start living a healthier lifestyle, and you can be a part of that.
