At Rosetta, the only thing we love more than providing quality care and imaging to our amazing patients is getting to do so in our amazing back yard…Manhattan! New York City offers a myriad of different things to do year round, but no time is more packed with city adventures than summer. Below, we share 6 awesome things to do in Manhattan (and the surrounding boroughs) this summer.
Catch a FREE Movie in an NYC Park
The NYC parks department offers a series of summer movie showings across parks in Manhattan and the surrounding boroughs. All showings are free, which, if you’ve ever been to New York City, you know is a rare surprise to find. If a park movie isn’t your thing, you can also catch a flick at Rooftop Cinema Club. While these aren’t free, the nighttime views of the city while you watch a movie will make you feel as if you just stumbled into some famous romantic comedy set in the Big Apple.
Take in a Broadway Show
Sure, Broadway has always been a place tourists flock to catch a show, however the appeal has skyrocketed lately with award-winning plays like Hamilton, The Book of Mormon, The Lion King, and more. But don’t fret if you can’t score tickets to one of the hot shows—any show on Broadway is an experience not to be missed!
See a Free Summerstage Concert
Yes, we said that magic word again—free! This time you can catch a summer concert from June 1 through September 24 on the Summerstage in Central Park situation at Rumsey Playfield; however, events happen at many of the city’s parks in all five boroughs.
Another free event in NYC! Every Tuesday through October, the park gives visitors a chance to get up close and personal with space through high-powered telescopes. The stargazing starts around dusk. Pack some snacks and a blanket and make a fun picnic out of it!
Let Your Taste Buds Run Wild
In addition to renowned restaurants, NYC offers a number of street fairs and food festivals throughout all five boroughs that offer sensational eats from all different types of cuisines. Try some different foods and capture those coveted Instagram foodie pictures!
Take in the Famous NYC Attractions
Don’t write off popular tourist sights like the Statue of Liberty, Times Square, the Brooklyn Bridge, Coney Island, the Empire State Building, or Ground Zero simply because they seem too “touristy”. Especially if it’s your first time in the city, these sights offer a wonderful glimpse into the history of the city and make a fun daytime excursion.
There’s no shortage of fun and exciting things to do in New York, especially in summer. We hope you enjoy our amazing city as much as we do!
