| Radiation Therapy |
Radiation therapy is the treatment of cancer and other diseases with radiation. Although radiation damages both cancer cells and normal cells, the latter are able to repair themselves and regain normal function.
ROSETTA RADIOLOGY offers state-of-the-art radiation treatment, such as IMRT , which allows higher doses of radiation because of the precision of this technology.
IMRT focuses radiation precisely to the shape and location of the tumor, and is able to control the intensity of the radiation within the tumor site. Because of this precision, the tumor receives a higher dose of radiation, while exposure to surrounding healthy tissue is limited. This offers a tremendous advantage over conventional radiation treatment.
Radiation therapy can treat localized solid tumors, such as cancers of the skin, tongue, larynx, brain, breast, or uterine cervix. It can also be used to treat leukemia and lymphoma.
Patients may receive radiation treatment alone, such as for prostate or larynx cancer, or as part of a patient's cancer treatment plan. For example, a woman may have radiation therapy after breast cancer surgery.
At ROSETTA RADIOLOGY our board certified physician employ a variety of cancer care options to help cure cancer and relieve a patient's pain |

| What To Expect: |
| For patients that are scheduled for radiation treatments, your course of treatment will occur in two stages: |
1. Planning
a. Simulation: The first step in planning your radiation treatment is to take a CT scan of the area where the tumor is situated. Our facility is equipped with a high speed CT scan to capture the image to use for the treatment plan.
b. Treatment Plan : Once the simulation process is completed, the image is transferred into our sophisticated treatment planning system whereby our medical physicists work side by side with your radiation oncologist to develop your customized treatment plan.
2. Treatment
Once your treatment plan is complete you will be scheduled to commence your daily treatments on our state-of-the-art Linear Accelerator, which will take place over the course of approximately 4-6 weeks, depending on the treatment prescribed.
You will meet with our radiation therapists who will explain the entire process to you and work with you to choose a time that is most convenient for you to come for your daily treatments. Our focus is to make you as comfortable as possible and you will find our therapists to be caring and attentive to your needs. |
